Overview: During this time, you are challenged to employ within the nurse-client interaction, the communication, and physical techniques you have explored in the CPI Training and recognize the situations in which this training will essential.
Purpose: Engaging in reflection is a critical aspect of the professional’s nurse’s practice. The Quality Assurance Program (QAP), mandated by the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO), builds on this premise. All Registered Nurses in this province must engage in this valuable practice. To prepare nursing students for this professional responsibility, elements of this program will be adapted for this Relational Practice course.
Process:
Written Paper is to Include (maximum of 3 pages excluding references):
• Introduction; clear, concise, purposeful: 2 marks
• Brief overview of the training experience: 3 marks
• Reflects on a relational difficulty in which this training could have been used: 5 marks
• Analyzes the relational difficulty from both strengths and weaknesses: 7 marks
• Identifies research on salient healthcare issues in relation to nurse patient relationship stemming from the identified difficulty: 7 marks
• Based on the theoretical and conceptual approaches from CPI Training, provide two examples of therapeutic interventions that could be implemented to increase the quality of the therapeutic relationship. This discussion should incorporate the CNO Standards/Competencies: 8 marks
• Based on your reflection; what learning objectives could you incorporate into your learning plan to assure quality in your professional practice: 3 marks
