Quality Manual – Instructions
Scenario: I am opening the Awesome Cancer Center in six months. I have hired you because of your extensive knowledge of quality management. The Awesome Cancer Center will have three (3) linear accelerators and one (1) CT simulator. Projected data show the center will treat 120 patients per day. I have charged you with the development of a Quality Manual for all new employees.
Using the course and learning objectives, develop an electronic training manual for the cancer center. This manual MUST include, but is not limited to:
1. the importance of a culture of safety in the radiation oncology department
3. policies to identify and rectify potential errors in treatment (i.e. Six Sigma, LEAN)
4. the duties of each radiation oncology team member to include the ASTRO Standards
5. the frequency, purpose, tools, procedures, tolerances, and documentation of quality assurance for:
a. simulation equipment
b. megavoltage treatment units
c. treatment planning systems
d. brachytherapy treatment and sources
The manual will be graded on its accuracy, detail, and user-friendliness, as well as its overall quality (professional writing, etc.).
Each section must include supporting documentation. You are encouraged to use additional materials, in all forms, citing the source of the information in APA format.
