Questions:
1. Do you feel gender is socially constructed? Give examples to support your answer.
2. Do you agree with the readings that state cyberviolence is a “gendered crime”?
3. Were you surprised by any of the statistics presented in the Government of Canada report
(2019)? Why did this surprise you?
4. Search the internet for examples of socially constructed gender examples (an example could be
t-shirts worn by children depicting girls as pretty and boys as smart). Are these socially
constructed accepted gender characteristics problematic?

INSTRUCTIONS
Complete the Final Paper on a topic you find interesting from the course.
The Final Paper should be formatted as follows:
• Saved as a Word document
• Use 12-point font
• 5-7 page double-spaced pages
• Use APA formatting
• Use at least four references not used in this course
Topics can include any of the following:
• An overview of cyberviolence, gender hate speech, cyber-blackmail and extortion, nonconsensual intimate photo distribution, misogyny and the Incel Movement, victim blaming, or
intervention strategies.
• You can also focus on how cyberviolence is a gendered crime, or you may focus on how
cyberviolence affects marginalized individuals.
• Lastly, you can also choose to read a book listed in the Optional Resources section of the
Syllabus document and complete your paper on your reflection of that book as related to
cyberviolence.
You may find that some topics will overlap, and this is perfectly fine. The final assignment is due upon
completion of the course.
EXPECTATIONS
Excellent work on this assignment will contain the following characteristics:
• A clear introduction section, review of literature section, and a conclusion section.
• An outline and description of a crime (under the umbrella of cyberviolence) using clear, concise
research, showing critical reflection on the selected crime.
• A discussion of cyberviolence using course materials, other materials, and personal experience.
• An identification of some of the legal issues or courses of action that those who experience or
witness cyberviolence can take to prevent and/or intervene in the situation.
• You can feel free to use your own experiences and thoughts on the selected crime, but you must
supply references to back up and your statements.
• Use APA 7 format and have minimal grammatical and/or spelling errors.
