JUSTICE FROM A FEMINIST PERSPECTIVE
The term feminist justice means different things to different people – while some scholars
view it from the sameness approach, others view it from the difference approach. The scholars
who adopt the sameness approach are of the view that men and women are the same human
beings: as such they argued that both sexes be treated equally. While some other scholars who
argued from the difference feminism approach identified cultural, psychological, and biological
characteristics difference between men and women. These differential attributes were said to be
vital for the overall wellbeing and harmony in the society. The difference feminist writers are of
the view that feminist justice is better understood from the feminist different approach because it
recognizes the unique nature of the distinguishing features of women. Feminist justice involves
using equitable standards and rules in dealing with women regardless of their class and race. It
requires that the biological, psychological, and cultural differences between men and women be
given a critical consideration. Part of the biological features that distinguish men from women is
childbearing, which includes the process of pregnancy. It will be unfair and an injustice to expect
a pregnant woman to work the same hours at the same pace as a man in the same work
environment. Judging from these points, this paper therefore sees feminist justice as the fair and
equitable treatment for women in every society
