Overview of Task

Your assignment is to critically evaluate the contribution that cognitive psychology and cognitive neuropsychology have made to recent models or theories of a chosen psychological function, with specific attention to how more recent developments in cognitive neuroscience may have contributed to neuropsychological accounts of the mechanisms underlying the chosen psychological function.
Assignment Part 1: Due at the end of Week 2 Sept 25th…
• You should start by gathering your ideas about the topic you will write about in your essay.
• A discussion forum below will open in week 2 where you are expected to discuss your topic ideas and highlight your chosen cognitive function (up to 500 words).
• You are expected to share one reference of reading you have looked at that supports the idea that recent developments have had some impact on neuropsychological accounts of the mechanisms underlying it.

• – When it comes to the final component of Assignment 1, there were some questions on what all should be done, as it admittedly could be worded more clearly. As such, here is my interpretation of what you should be doing and what I will be looking for:
• · Introduce the chosen cognitive/psychological function and background information on it, as well as any specific related process you want to focus on, if relevant (note: be mindful of the word count here),
• · Discuss and critically evaluate how literature/research in cognitive psychology and cognitive neuropsychology have influenced the recent models and theories related to the chosen cognitive/psychological function. Specifically, you want to:
• o Critically evaluate how the recent research developments in cognitive neuroscience have contributed to neuropsychological accounts of the underlying mechanisms of the chosen cognitive/psychological function
• § If you’re wondering what is meant by mechanism, it often refers to the neuropsychological processes or a causal set of neural processes that creates the cognitive phenomena
• § When you’re thinking of relevant research that can support your assignment, you’ll want to consider brain imaging, animal models, lesion studies/ brain damage studies, pharmacological studies, computational modelling, and neuropathology

Part 2: Due at the end of Week 3 deadline October 3rd… PLEASE NOTE: for this part, I will be making a fresh order by submitting two peer’s idea’s to write on.
Following the submission of your idea, you should then provide some constructive reflection and feedback on two of your peers’ ideas (up to 150 words each) pointing out anything of interest to you or anything you have learnt from their idea. The purpose of this is so that you can learn from and engage in academic discussion with your peers. Please post these in the discussion forum below.
Example comments may include:
• What you found interesting about the idea
• Further areas of interest or research for the original post
• What you have learnt from their idea
• Have your opinions on your own topic changed since reading their idea
• Any research that backs up or contradicts their proposed idea
• Any theoretical models that back up the idea.
Part 3: Due at the end of Week 4 October 10th.
Submit your final report of 1,200 words by end of unit 4 to the submission portal in unit 4.

This assessment is due at the end of unit 4. I will be making additional Order for this as well.
