2- Spa Design and Marketing

Define the spa business concept/vision/culture, provide a Mission Statement
Detail the location, environment, premises, facilities, products and equipment
Your design should include steam, sauna, hydrotherapy, showers, relaxation room(s)
Design the treatment menu to include signature treatments and packages
Detail the spa journey and incorporate how you will stimulate the five senses
Provide a competitor analysis of spas in the near vicinity, compare how your spa will
differ
Who will be your target market/clientele for the location you are in
Give an overview of your spa marketing strategy tactics and timeline for your marketing
plan
SWOT analysis for the spa
Discuss why project timescales/deadlines are important for the build
Design a floor plan to suitable scale and evaluate your design
Where possible give financial details throughout and discuss budgetary requirements
You can include a mood board to depict the interior design of your spa

Introduction
Include an introduction and title the section Introduction. Your introduction introduces the
topic and informs reader of the discussion within the body of work, you should use
definitions and quotations
Main body of assignment
In the main body of your assignment ensure your work flows in a logical, progressive manner,using linking and introductory sentences between each section/paragraph. Do not include
the criteria bullet points and in the most part avoid lists and bullet points, instead write in
paragraphs and demonstrate research from reputable sources, ensure your statements are
supported with evidence/references e.g. Smith (2018) stated that …..
Conclusion
Title your conclusion, in it relate back to the arguments within the main body of your work.
Summarise and evaluate what you have written about, do not raise new questions or
theories.
Appendix
You can include an Appendix in your assignment. You may want to use an appendix if you
are writing about a specific picture, chart etc. that would not flow in the format of your
assignment but you want to refer to it. You should put your Appendix at the back. An
Appendix can be numbered Appendix 1, Appendix 2 etc.
Reference List
To include all books, magazines, articles, websites, models, pictures etc. cited in your
assignment. Use Harvard Referencing.

Reference List
To include all books, magazines, articles, websites, models, pictures etc. cited in your
assignment. For an example how to write an in text citation see Edmodo for assistance.
Below is an Example of how to present your Reference List at the end of your assignment.
The example below has two references; the first is for a book, the second for a website. You
may find it helpful to use these as a template for you very own reference list and please refer
to Edmodo for more tips on Harvard Referencing and citing in your assignments.

Citation
Citing the sources of your quotes within your work is important, it demonstrates that you are
not plagiarising and it highlights your academic talents, that you have researched widely
around the topic and have gained a wider perception of peoples opinions on the topic.
When citing another person in your assignment you should include their surname and year.
For example Smith (2018) highlights that…..
For each in text citation you should reference the source by putting the details of the book,
article etc. into your reference list.
You can cite or quote directly, for example Smith (2018) argued that ‘spas are wellness
centers and not for beautification purposes’.
Alternatively you can indirectly quote with out using ‘, this is the preferential technique as it
means that you can still reference the author, however you can slightly change the words so
that it fits better within the flow of your work. An indirect quote is also preferred as it is
thought to demonstrate a deeper understanding of the quotation and therefore of a better
academic quality assignment.
Example of an indirect quotation;
Original text: We have a mens, womens and mixed sauna and steam rooms, which are used
equally, by both sexes with in our spa.
Indirect quote example: Smith (2018) spa experiences are used equally by both sexes.
