Project Plan Negotiation Post your proposed project paper problem statement here for discussion and approval. Start early – negotiation is involved – usually based on scope. You’ll need a very tight scope to get your topic approved. You only have 18 pages to fully develop your problem, analyze countermeasures and solve your HFE issue. This can be a frustrating process if you do not follow the guidelines. During Week 6, you will submit a 1 page outline of your Project Paper which will “flesh out” your negotiated problem statement. The Project Paper Spec is under the [Assignment Support] tab to your left. It spells out the specific requirements for this paper. Please note the requirement to be T&PG and APA 7.0 compliant. This is a program-wide requirement and the reason the APA 7.0 style manual is required for all MSQA classes and thesis/projects. Note the word project and not research. This is not a research paper – but the documentation of how you would or could solve an HFE issue in your workplace. The ground rules: Is specifically related to a relevant HFE topic Is cast in your workplace (present if at all possible) Is in the HFE Problem, HFE Countermeasure, solution format Is narrow enough in scope to do justice in the length assigned (this is the number 1 reason for topics being disapproved — the scope is too broad) Is narrow enough in scope to do justice in the length assigned (this is the number 1 reason for topics being disapproved — the scope is too broad) (bears repeating) What is important for this course is that you can demonstrate that you can: Identify a human factors problem in your work arena, Properly determine the area needing improvement, Select an appropriate intervention from the text (or outside source). Apply or propose that countermeasure. Define predicted results. See Deming’s PDSA for the theory behind this approach. Post just the problem statement of your paper for approval. Unless… it is so work-specific that I might not understand the terminology or the context of the issue and you need to include a context.
