1848 Seneca Falls Convention

1848 was a pivotal year in American History—the term “Manifest Destiny” had been coined a few years ago, describing the young United States’ ambition to
enlarge the size of American nation by wresting control of vast territories inhabited by Native Americans and Mexicans through colonization and war. But in
1848, women gathered in Seneca Falls, NY to convene the first women’s right convention in world history.
