Write a 2.5 to 3 page double spaced paper plus add an additional page for references on a specific
ecological restoration topic of your choice. Your paper must include the application of ecological design
principles to address a restoration issue (CLO7) and it also must involve the interpretation and/or
translation of both ecological and sociological and/or economic data (CLO6). Examples of suitable topics
might be “Use of instream structures for restoring urban streams”, “Reforestation of mangrove swamps in
Belize”, or “Captive-rearing and release of endangered California condors.”
You must use a minimum of 4 sources of which at least 3 must be peer-reviewed journal articles from
publications such as Restoration Ecology, Ecological Restoration, Ecological Applications, or The Journal
of Wildlife Management (note these are just examples). Cite the references using a standardized style from
one of your journals. Also as a helpful hint you need to be on campus or logged into the WVU library
system to gain access to most full-text articles. You must read more than the abstract. Upload your written
assignment as a pdf or a word document and also upload two full-text peer reviewed pdf files on eCampus.
See the grading rubric for details on how the assignment will be graded.
