sooner, for approval. Buildings will be approved on a first come, first
served basis!
• Rules
– Each student selects their own building (no duplicates)
– No high rise buildings (skyscrapers)
– No New York City projects
• For now, just select a building. For later classes you’ll complete
individual assignments that address various aspects of Your
Building (climate, energy, etc)

• Answer ALL questions about your personal lifestyle (food, housing,
transportation, energy efficiency, recycling, etc). Be honest!
• At each screen click on “Add Details to Improve Accuracy” and answer
ALL the detailed questions.

and copy into a Word document. Notice how
many Earths your lifestyle requires and your
personal “Overshoot Day”
• Click on “See Details” at bottom to view the

• After you’ve reviewed the RESULTS pages,
click on “Explore Solutions” at the bottom.

• At the SOLUTIONS page, you can learn more about ways to reduce
your footprint by clicking on the “Learn More” links. Make note of some
possible changes you’d consider adopting in your own life to reduce
your footprint! (e.g., eating less meat, carpooling, riding a bike to work
or school, etc)
• At bottom of SOLUTIONS page, consider sharing the footprint link with
friends on social media!
• Create a Word document including the following:
– Screen shots of your 2 Results pages; include other screen shots if
you like.
– In your own words, briefly describe your footprint.
o What are your highest consumption categories and why?
o Which land type(s) are most impacted by your lifestyle?
– Briefly describe at least 1 change you would like to try in your life to
reduce your personal footprint.
