The MRT class is very different from the other modules undertaken so far. The aim is different, the output is different, the interaction with the faculty member is different and the pace of the module is different. It is your responsibility to decide upon the level of interaction with your supervisor. Given all these aspects and the duration of the MRP module (26 weeks), it is recommended to produce regular reports, in order to help you keep track of your progress. You should aim to submit these progress reports at the end of each 4-week period of your MRP that you complete (e.g. after the completion of week 4, week 8, week 12 and so on). You should aim at submitting your progress reports within one week from the completion of each 4-week period (e.g. you should aim at submitting your week 1-4 report in week 5 of the MRP, the week 5-8 report in week 9 of the MRP and so on) Promptness in submitting these reports will help you and your supervisor identify and resolve any issues in a timely manner. Experience shows that regular reports help keep track of progress and increase the ability to submit on time the final output. Regular reports will also help your supervisor in identifying the next steps that need to be addressed for a timely completion. The report format is free and the outline here below is a suggestion. As an informal reminder, the overall MRP milestones have been included at the bottom of the proposed format. Please note that it is very important not to limit the interaction with your supervisor to these reports; you are strongly encouraged to actively seek contact whenever necessary.
Progress report outline
When you complete your progress report, it is suggested that you aim at addressing the following points. Your progress report does not need to be extensive. Two-three sentences or a paragraph for each of the four points will be sufficient. Also, you should feel free to add further information to your report as you see fit.
1. Overall status and progress against the here below-set milestones
2. Challenges identified
3. How these challenges will be addressed for the completion of the next report in 4 weeks
4. Any other future challenge that has not yet occurred but should be addressed
