Supervisor suggestions:
• You need to read further down towards more a specific area. I suggest that you keep the topic, but you need to refine/reframe the aims and the objectives. Think of linking it between planning and policy level, spatial planning and with civil engineering (particularly traffic design and engineering).
• Take out civil engineering from the topic. Forget about the concept of asking why/how civil engineering can help boosting road traffic safety because it helps already. So this must come out from both the topic and the aim & objectives of the research.
• You need to rethink again about the aims and objectives. You have to narrow down what really you want to focus from a planning perspective not as an engineering problem because my master course is about urban planning.
• There’s a massive area that overlaps between engineering and planning called traffic calming. Traffic calming is an area of traffic engineering that deals with safety. From technological solutions on the infrastructure, such as road pumps, street design, narrowing sections, pavement design, chicanes, signing, traffic lights etc. are all persuasive measures for drivers to drive slowly.
• You should think and analyse critically how this technology from traffic calming traditional technology to high technological solutions. And then you will explore new solutions and new technological approaches for this issue.
• It’s advised not to do online surveys.
• Secondary data should be used not primary data for the case study.
• The supervisor mentioned something about woonerf.
