Paper Outline
Thesis: Socrates would have been wrong to escape and go against his beliefs and teachings.
I. If you could escape prison and change your beliefs and religion, would you take the chance at escaping? Socrates had many opportunities to escape but he didn’t.
II. Discuss Socrates being wrongly accused of erroneous crimes.
A. Explain how the public viewed Socrates crime accusations.
B. Explain how Socrates’s conversation with Crito showed his views on morality.
C. Socrates would have been wrong to escape because it went against his belief on law and justice.
III. Discuss Socrates’s views on law and justice.
A. Explain Socrates’s view on the law during his time period.
B. Explain how Socrates’s conversation with Crito went.
C. Socrates would have put himself in a huge risk if he would have tried to escape.
IV. Discuss the major risk Socrates faced if he tried to escape.
A. Explain how even though he didn’t escape, he may face the same fate.
B. Explain how Socrates escape would have effected his followers.
V. Socrates would have been wrong if he escape based off of his beliefs.
A. Socrates would have went against everything he believed when it came to moral and justice.
B. Discuss what happens if Socrates decides to escape.
Task:
This 4 – 5 full page (not to exceed 6 pages) Philosophical Essay you will be writing is designed to be a thoughtful, reflective work. The 4 – 5 full pages does not include a cover page or a works cited page. It will be your premier writing assignment focused on the integration and assessment relating to the course concepts. Your paper should be written based on the outline you submitted during week 4 combined with your additional thoughts and instructor feedback. You will use at least three scholarly/reliable resources with matching in-text citations and a Works Cited page. All essays are double spaced, 12 New Times Roman font, paper title, along with all paragraphs indented five spaces.
Your paper will be written at a college level with an introduction, body paragraphs, a conclusion, along with in-text citations/Works Cited page in MLA formatting. Students will follow MLA format as the sole citation and formatting style used in written assignments submitted as part of coursework to the Humanities Department. Remember – any resource that is listed on the Works Cited page must have an in-text citation in the paper to match or this is considered plagiarism.
