Cross Cultural Study Report

This a group project with 4 students involved base in UAE, a university from the UK interviewed us about
and ask us questions about the UAE job environment, Culture, Life, the UAE economy and University life
here in UAE.
As one of the group members writing this report, I need to write the introduction, background (Provide a brief
overview of the nature of the participants used for your data collection), who did we interviews, motive, etc.
In the report instead of the name of the university interviewed us please mention “X University” so I will
change it myself after.
**For the Background part, there were 3 students from England (Female), Wales (Male), and Sudan
(Female).**
Here is the assignment requirement:
OUTLINE AND REQUIREMENTS
The purpose of this task is to create a rich understanding of cultural behavior in the workplace using primary
data from local organizations and applying cross-cultural theory.
Specific Requirements:
Teams will interview four participants, as designated by the lecturer, to collect research data associated with
cross-cultural issues in this workplace.
The organisation must be approved by the lecturer before data is collected.
Teams are required to conduct a four semi-structured personal interviews or a group interview of four
participants to discuss management issues that have arisen based on cultural encounters at work.
This data must be collected under research conditions. Refer to the material provided in class regarding
confidentiality.
All the team members need to analyze the data collected from interviews/focus groups and identify the key
issues. These issues may revolve around a specific incident, or a set of patterns of behaviour, which must be
consolidated in the findings.
Teams must then use theories introduced in class only to explain the issues; for example, if communication
difficulties are identified you may use the concept of high and low context. Include figures, tables or analysis,
as appropriate.
Findings should be critiqued, that is you should consider the possible cultural reasons for what your
interviewees told you.
Finally, teams must provide recommendations for resolving the issues they have discussed using theories and
concepts introduced in-class.
CULTURAL STUDY REPORT STRUCTURE
BACKGROUND

METHODOLOGY
Explain how you collected and analysed the data.
FINDINGS
Explain the situation and the cultural challenges that were encountered by grouping the issues in themes, or
collections of issues, and critiquing the interviewees. Use theory to explain and illuminate your findings.
SOLUTIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
Discuss solutions and recommendations in dealing with the cultural challenges, controversies, problems presented in the preceding section. End with a conclusion.
REFERENCES
Students must provide in-text citations and a reference list in the Harvard referencing style.

Copies of lecturer approval, research consent forms and transcript notes must be submitted for assessment.

maximise your learning in this subject.
Report Format: Use 12pt Times New Roman font and 1.5 spacing, sentence case, with normal margins
(2.54cm). All writing must be in black. Do not use pictures or borders.
Style: Academic language is required, so avoid contractions (e.g., don’t and can’t) and slang.
To avoid bias and ambiguity, do not use he, his or him as a generic pronoun. Instead use gender inclusive
language, such as he or she and him or her, or make the sentence plural, if you are writing about people in
general.
