2- Read the article carefully, keeping in mind the requirements of this assignment.
3- Write a critical reflective essay of approximately 300-400 words (that is between 1-1.3 pages in TNR font 12 with 1.5 spacing).
4- direct quotations and/or indirect paraphrasing from other sources (also to be cited) should not exceed 20% of your essay.
6- the essay should be 100% of the product of your own writing. Any evidence of plagiarism will have serious consequences, including failing the test and perhaps more.
7- Your essay should answer the following questions about the article, resulting in a full essay:
A- What are the main ideas and thesis statement? In your introductory paragraph, carefully summarize the main ideas or points of the essay, ending with a thesis statement of the essay. Remember: A summary of an essay’s ideas and a thesis statement, although they overlap, are not the same thing. A thesis statement is a one-sentence statement that expresses the main idea of the essay.
B- In the following few paragraphs, give clear answers with evidence from the essay itself to the following sub-questions:
– Explain the main idea of the essay and state at least one argument given in favor of it by the writer. In other words, what is the main thrust of the essay a dhow does the author try to prove it?
– To what extent the author considers opposing or counterpoint of views in the article? Are these views taken seriously and discussed or dismissed with the argument?
– These articles deal with questions relating to justifications of the necessity or morality of America’s role in WWII and/or certain actions that were taken by the US during the war. What is your view on this issue as presented in the article? Do you agree or disagree with the author’s presentation and/or position? Why do you think so? What is your argument and evidence for thinking so? It’s not enough here to say you agree and repeat the author’s arguments. You need to provide your own perspective and convincing reasons and arguments drawn from your own experience and understanding of the world?
C- In the final paragraph, give a coherent and clear conclusion that briefly summarizes the main points of your essay.
