In this paper I was suppose cite two reading sources but I only cited Lysias 1 (On the Murder of Eratosthenes) All I need you do it edited and add quotes to cite from using the reading Plato’s Apology of Socrates Classics
Here are the directions
Read the following instructions carefully! Then read them again. Also carefully.
For your second short paper, I ask that you list some of the characteristics of a successful defense in an Athenian courtroom, based on your reading of Lysias 1 (On the Murder of Eratosthenes) and Plato’s Apology of Socrates. What, as you see it, should a defendant do in his apology (i.e., defense speech) in order to secure the best possible outcome for himself? You are free to organize your paper in any way you like, but you should include at least three different characteristics (e.g.: cites pertinent laws, refrains from insulting the jurymen, avoids going off on long tangents, characterizes himself in a sympathetic way, portrays the opponent as a villain, etc.). Cite/Quote specific passages from the primary texts—both speeches—to support your points, and make sure that you have at least nine quotations/citations in all (i.e., three for each characteristic). To cite/quote your sources properly for this assignment, refer to page numbers. Here are some examples of what I mean:
Example quotation:
As Euphiletos reminds us, “He [i.e., Eratosthenes] entered into my house, men of Athens, and forgot to wipe his feet” (p. 157).
Example citation:
In the list of punishments he proposes for himself (pp78–80), Socrates conspicuously forgets to mention giant space robots.
Do not include a bibliography or list of works cited for this assignment. Do not quote or cite other editions of the two speeches. Do not cite or quote passages from outside of the readings for the course: stick to what you have been assigned! Failure to follow these instructions will result in loss of points.
The second short paper is due electronically (on D2L) at 11:59 p.m. on Thursday, April 2. ***At 12:01 a.m. on Friday, April 3 the paper is late and will be docked a letter grade,*** so I would encourage you to get it in well ahead of the due date. You should upload it as a Word file into the Short Paper #2 folder on D2L. Your paper must be between 750 and 1000 words and in standard 5-paragraph essay format. Failure to follow these instructions will result in loss of points.
OK, read the instructions again. Even more carefully this time.
