ASSIGNMENT 4: Corridor Transformation Planning Study (Term project)
This part of the assignment will achieve two major objectives:
• To research critical design considerations for corridor transformation in Halifax
• To develop concept designs or planning interventions for the corridor in relation to road
transformation, land use transformation, place making and active transportation.
Final report requirements:
Each student will write a report chapter individually on their portion of the Corridor Transformation Planning Study. The report must be professional in quality. Maximum 10 pages (excluding appendix and references), single-spaced, 12-point font, are allowed for each student’s contribution to the report. Please consider using textboxes, photos, drawings, SketchUp models and/or other forms of visual representation to clarify your design concepts in the report. Please identify your name at the beginning of the chapter.
Individual chapters may include (but not limited to):
• Introduction/background (e.g. brief context, main issues considered and organization of the
chapter – max 1 page)
• Design considerations (e.g. design principles/approach, summary of site analysis, major design
considerations)
• Concept designs/planning interventions (e.g. description and drawings of design/interventions,
why proposed? how it would help transformation of the corridor? Etc.) – MAIN FOCUS
• Concluding remarks
