COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT INSTRUCTIONS
Part I: Plan
Students will submit as a discussion post their plan of completing an observation of no less
than 2-hours of an exceptional child or student. The observation can be in a community or
school setting, and must include a child or student with a noted disability. Post your information
and plan of how and where you will complete this observation to the discussion board for Week
2. Please be aware this is an informal assignment and special permission is not provided by
your instructor or Liberty as a placement. Therefore, do not contact the internship office for
permission to use a particular setting. If permission is required from your setting, you must
locate another setting to complete your observations.
Submit Part: The Plan for Community Engagement by 11:59 PM (ET) on Sunday of
Module/Week 2.
Part II: The Reflective Video Blog
Students will complete a reflective video blog that includes discussion of the direct observation

individuals with exceptionalities and culturally responsive practices for meeting the specific
needs (i.e., academic, social, emotional, behavioral) of diverse populations. The initial video
blog needs to at least 3-minutes in duration, and include clear video and audio.
Students will also complete a reply video blog that responds to the original video blog of a
classmate. The reply video blog needs to be thoughtful response to the original post of a
classmate that includes discussion of the noted observation by the classmate, and include
questions or reflections about the original video blog from their classmate. The reply video blog
