Analyzing How Films Influence Each Other
For this writing exercise, your task is to discuss two movies, one earlier and one later, demonstrate how the older film influences the younger, and then discuss the significance of that influence.
As with prior writing exercises, I imagine this to be a four-paragraph assignment. The first paragraph should offer an argument. The second paragraph should point to the relationship you see between the films. The third paragraph should discuss the importance of that relationship for viewers. The final paragraph should consider the results of your comparison now that your reader has moved through your analysis.
You can choose any two films you like for this exercise, as long as they represent two different generations and the second one deals with the same ideas as the first in a new way. And I would use this exercise as a beginning place for your work on Paper 4.
Remember: this should be formatted in MLA style. You should have in-text citations with timestamps for the scenes you choose. You should also have a works cited page for the two movies you have chosen. All papers without citations, a works cited page, and proper formatting will be returned for correction before they receive a grade.
