1. One-Page Arguments
Students are asked to prepare brief 1-page argumentative statement about each set of readings for the quarter. There are five sets of readings of James Baldwin’s work. Each 1-page argumentative statement will consist of three paragraphs. The first paragraph should offer a clear argumentative statement reflecting the student’s opinion or perspective on the readings and should only be one sentence in length. The next two paragraphs should offer supporting arguments, evidence, and analysis. Each of these paragraphs will necessarily be 3 to 4 sentences in length. These 1-page arguments are an exercise in developing precise argumentative skills. They are to be submitted via our course Blackboard page. 25% of Final Grade.
