Short Writing Assignment #4: A technology of gender.
NOTE: Only the best 4 out of 5 will count towards your final grade. Thus, you do not have to submit all 5 if you so choose.
1. You should find an artefact, that is a bit of technology. It could be (almost) anything. It could be your new phone, a game, a visit to a movie, museum, grocery store, etc. but it must be related to the refashioning and sharing of media and/or media technology. As well, it should have a cognitive (made you think) and affective (made you feel) reaction to it. The only catch is that it must also conform to the ODU code of conduct.
2. You should find and include in a Google Doc at least one (1) animated gif that relates to the cognitive and affective response. You may include more. Obviously, you may go over the usual one page limit.
3. You can find a great, brief explanation of how to include an animated gif here: https://shakeuplearning.com/blog/insert-gifs-google-docs-slides/
4. You will write a reflection in which you will consider the ways the gif does or does not become a technology of gender. In other words, since the content of any medium is another medium (that would be a good place to start), how does gender become one of the sources of content for the gif? You may also wish to consider issues of “virality” and “materiality” from later readings.
5. Enjoy.
