Specific Essay #2 criteria:
must be at least 800 words, have a complete MLA works cited page with at least 2 primary sources used and cited internally and at least 1 outside secondary academic source used and cited internally. Note: Essay must be submitted via NSOnline only.
Possible primary sources from A World of Ideas eligible for this essay:
• One primary source must be one of the following:
o Jefferson, Emerson, Wollstonecraft, Douglass, the Friedmans, and/or Reich
o You may have both primary sources from this list, or you may bring in one previous reading assignment
• Secondary Academic source
o May be an essay from A World of Ideas that we have not covered in class (eligible for your extra journal entry too)
o Any outside research must be from a credible, academic source.
Grammar: Use standard spelling, grammar, and diction. Proofread for errors. Your essay should be written in third person (he, she, it, they, and them). There should be no use of first person pronouns (I, me, my) or second person pronouns (you and your) in this essay. Your essay must contain a clear and concise thesis statement. Points should be presented in topic sentences that relate back to the thesis.
MLA Formatting Requirements:
• Typed
• MLA heading and header format
• Double spaced format
• Indent every paragraph (do not space between paragraphs)
• Title Centered (no worries about a title, essay number will be accepted)
• 12 point font only
• Times New Roman font only
• Length: 800 words
• Proper internal citations and a works cited page, in MLA format, are required. No essay may pass without either of these.
